What did Samsung announce in February 2026?
Samsung’s February 27 announcement described expansion across selected Galaxy phones, including the S26 series. It named existing services, partnership work and future plans separately. It also attached model, network, market and OS/One UI qualifications.
T-Mobile and KDDI were described as supporting selected devices since 2025. Verizon’s offering, European partnerships and trials, and Japanese plans occupied different stages. The later operator documents above update only their own rows; they do not validate every Galaxy model or market in Samsung’s original statement.

O2’s help page requires device registration with the UK EmergencySMS service for 999 texts and says government emergency alerts are unavailable over O2 Satellite. SoftBank’s page excludes calls and emergency calls. These differences are why a messaging-capable service must not be described as a universal emergency feature.
What operating limits remain?
Follow the operator’s sky-view and positioning instructions. Verizon requires a clear view of the sky; T-Mobile warns that satellite service, including text-to-911, may be delayed, limited or unavailable. Buildings, terrain and coverage conditions can make a planned connection unavailable. Do not treat successful setup as a guarantee of a connection at a later location.
Keep backup emergency plans and sufficient power for the trip. Check service availability before leaving ordinary coverage, and use supported demonstrations instead of making an emergency call to test the phone.
