It seems that Android is continuing to increase their market share, at least according to numbers for Mobile Web Consumption for the month of August.  As seen in the graph posted above, Android continues to rise, while iOS and RIM both continue to fall.

The numbers also look good in the chart posted below, which measures changes for the month, quarter, and the entire year.  Now granted, these statistics are pulled from Mobile Web usage, not from actual vendor numbers, which will give a much better idea of how Android is continuing to fair in the Mobile OS market. Quantcast will have those figures next week, so stay tuned.

Android continues Mobile OS share gains in August

With our review of the Arkon Mega Grip landing tomorrow, it’s time to get the ball rolling for the inevitable contest that usually accompanies our reviews. Arkon Mega Grip Mega Giveaway

Ah Motorola. Whenever we want to see Apple get what they deserve, you deliver. As you all know, Motorola is no stranger to making sure everyone knows their phones are superior to those from Apple.

Motorola has taken out a full-page ad in the New York Times, pointing out that, while the Droid 2 can easily watch flash content on web pages, the other guys cannot. Because, as Motorola puts it, “Flash websites? There’s a phone for that!” And that phone is definitely not the iPhone.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that T-Mobile is in talks with Chinese manufacturer Huawei over distributing their Android powered Ideos smartphone.  The deal would bring the first Huawei device to the US, and T-Mobile is hoping to be able to release it in time for the holiday season.

Reports are also coming in that the device could run as low as $50 dollars, providing a real incentive for those interested in testing the smarphone waters, but who don’t want to spend a lot of money.  The phone is slated to run Android 2.2, and will boast a 2.8 inch display.

T-Mobile in talks with Huawei over launching the Ideos

Verizon’s R2-D2 Droid 2 teaser site has revealed its latest image: a very Star Wars themed dock.  While it’s likely made of plastic, this is still a nice touch to an already spiffy looking phone.  So, for you Star Wars nuts out there, if the phone itself wasn’t enough of an incentive, perhaps this is.
